Portugal real estate on the radar for US buyers
Investment in Portuguese real estate from the USA is expected to continue to grow throughout 2023. According to Sotheby's International Realty Luxury Outlook 2023, Portugal (Lisbon, Porto, Algarve, and Madeira) has already ranked among the top destinations for luxury buyers from the US. Safety, quality of life, hospitality of the Portuguese, infrastructure, education, and health are among the most valued qualities in the country.
Portuguese Tourist taxes bring in €54 million
Tourist taxes charged for overnight stays in 11 municipalities generated revenues of €54.2 million in 2022. Lisbon and Porto concentrated more than 80 percent of the financial inflow, which was 4 percent below the last year before the pandemic (2019) but which corresponded to triple the amount verified in 2021.
Portugal: A relaxed lifestyle

Real estate investment up 39% in Portugal
The overall value of three billion euros in investment recorded in 2022 represents a 39% increase compared to that observed in 2021, with the hotel sector representing 30% of this total, offices 27%, industrial 21%, and retail 9%.
